On September 11, 2025, the Thanh Hóa North–South Railway Overpass was officially joined, marking a key milestone in solving one of the most complex traffic challenges at the western gateway of Thanh Hóa City.
The project stretches nearly 800 meters, including over 276 meters crossing the railway, designed in a modern Extradosed cable-stayed style with a maximum span of 120 meters. The bridge deck is 22.5–25 meters wide, accommodating 4 motor vehicle lanes and 2 mixed-use lanes. The project has a total investment of VND 647 billion.
Commenced in May 2024, the project faced numerous challenges. The narrow construction site and complex intersection at Trịnh Kiểm Street – East-West Boulevard – Nguyễn Trãi Street, with consistently heavy traffic, posed difficulties for construction management. Meanwhile, fill soil sources were scarce and had to be transported from afar, increasing both costs and supply pressure. Harsh weather with prolonged rainfall also threatened progress.
Particularly demanding was the requirement to ensure absolute safety for the North–South Railway – the nation’s vital artery, surrounding road traffic, and residents in a densely populated urban area. This called for stringent technical solutions: maintaining load capacity, minimizing vibration, and avoiding incidents at all costs.
In the face of these obstacles, the resilience and ingenuity of Đạt Phương people once again shone through. More than 120 project management staff worked in unity, overcoming each bottleneck to keep the project on track. Three construction fronts were organized in parallel, working around the clock to minimize congestion while ensuring progress. The adoption of the Extradosed girder construction method not only met aesthetic and large-span requirements but also eliminated the complexity of temporary supports, maximizing safety within tight spatial conditions.
At the same time, optimal resource allocation and flexible supply chain adjustments were implemented, helping to control costs while adhering to schedule. The project team remained committed to the principle of “tidy work as you go,” keeping the site aligned with a clean and orderly urban environment, minimizing impact on residents’ lives.
After more than a year of relentless effort and hundreds of working days and nights, the moment of joining the bridge symbolized the reward for dedication and perseverance – and a source of pride for the entire team. More than just the success of a traffic project, it is a powerful testament to Đạt Phương’s capability and reliability in delivering large-scale infrastructure works – resilient, professional, and committed to progress.
Once operational, the Thanh Hóa Railway Overpass is expected to shorten travel times, eliminate long-standing congestion hotspots, and create a seamless East–West boulevard connection in line with urban planning, linking major intersections at the western gateway of the city to boost economic, cultural, and social development. Beyond resolving urban traffic bottlenecks, its elegant cable-stayed design will also stand as a modern architectural highlight, shaping the city’s landscape in line with its role as the economic and cultural hub of the North Central region.
As the project’s main contractor, this achievement is not only another mark on the construction map but also a reinforcement of Đạt Phương’s value in turning challenges into opportunities and transforming drawings into reality.
